For the last few weeks, I’ve been busy sifting through more than 120 pages of quotes, highlights, and personal reflections regarding the subject of AI. From under this mountain of research, I’m perilously close to falling down the rabbit hole, and the worst part?
I know I’ve barely scratched the surface.
In the next month, I’ll be finishing a more in-depth than usual paper (relatively speaking) attempting to offer guidance to church leaders looking to navigate ministry in a world that is rapidly changing in light of artificial intelligence. I intend to share my research and conclusions with you, both in full form and in condensed versions.
Spoiler alert: I believe there are seven crucial action points for church leaders as they minister in an increasingly AI-driven world.
But that’s a few weeks away.
This week, I thought I’d write to you—the readers for which I am extremely grateful—to see if there are any specific topics, themes, or issues regarding artificial intelligence that you’d like to hear more about at Church and AI. If so, I’d appreciate it enormously if you would consider commenting below or contacting me in some other way. It would be wonderful to hear from you - your input will help guide and shape the future of these musings. I have lots of topics to write about, but I’d love to know how can I share my research with you in a way that serves you well!
Hi Dave, Can you see AI informing church-planting strategy in the future? Imagine the ability to triangulate demographic data with geospatial location of churches and an analysis of the 'offer' on church websites in that area.
Or are we in danger of usurping the Holy Spirit, Babel-style... (that's not an entirely facetious question! At what point does the compelling logic and insight behind machine learning begin to jostle with what the Spirit is saying (sometimes counterintuitively) to the Churches?)
